Exclusive Interview with Olivia Newton-John

This month Blue Illusion boutiques host a very special Styling Workshop to support the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness and Research Centre. This incredible Centre helps patients live better with cancer and defeat it through world class treatment, integrated research, leading clinical trials and tailored wellness programs. Our aim is to raise $300,000 for the Centre by 2020 and with your help we’re sure to make it.

Blue Illusion fundraises for the ONJ Centre both through our National Styling Workshops and by co-designing products with Olivia, donating 7% of proceeds of each sale. This year we combined our talents to create a fabulous Reversible Puffer Coat that is sure to be one of your favourite winter warmers. It’s not only beautiful and versatile, this coat is also sustainable - made from 100% recycled nylon and filled with ethically sourced duck down.

We were lucky enough to chat with the lovely Olivia and thought we’d share some of our conversation here:

Blue Illusion has committed to raising $300,000 to your Cancer Research and Wellness Centre, how will these funds provide support?

I am so thrilled the team at Blue Illusion have chosen to work so closely with me and the ONJ Centre. Their generosity directly supports the research and wellness programs that both rely on fundraising. The research done at the ONJ Centre is world class and my dream is that it will lead to an end to cancer. The wellness programs that helped me so much in my recent stay at the ONJ Centre provides such valuable support to thousands of patients and their families on their journey to win over cancer.

You live a lifestyle devoted to health and wellbeing - what are your top three tips for women who would love to pursue a similar lifestyle?

Keep positive. You create what you believe. Eat healthily. I believe how you nourish your body is linked directly to how you feel, and I choose organic food whenever I can. And look after you!  It’s so important to take some time out of your busy day and stop to restore, centre and balance.

With Blue Illusion hosting in-store events raising funds for the Cancer Centre, is there anything you’d like to say to attendees of the event?

Oh “thank you so much”. My dream is to see an end to cancer in my life time and help as many people as I can to win over cancer. Your attendance and support of these events at Blue Illusion is doing just that. I think it’s so special to be able to help people who really need it – thank you for helping people with cancer.

Olivia, you co-designed the puffer coat, what was your inspiration behind this design?

I grew up in Melbourne and I remember the winters being so cold. We wanted to design something that looked really good and was ideal for a changeable environment… and I have always loved leopard!  It was so great to be creative with the team at Blue Illusion and knowing it was all for the ONJ Centre made it such a special project for me.

Your newest book Don’t’ Stop Believing is an inspiration for women around the world. What was it like to write your autobiography?

Writing the stories in the book was like reliving it all over again. It was really moving at times, funny at others. I’ve had such an amazing life! It was also a way of making sure the correct version of my life was out there in the world.

Your Livewise cookbook has so many WONDERFUL recipes, but which one is your go-to favourite for busy women?

Oh gosh – there are so many. The recipes in there are all feel good recipes that are good for you and so many of them are really simple to make. I can’t pick just one, so any of the salads really. I love greens, and my husband John loves the dressings.

The Gaia wellness retreat will celebrate 15 years next year. What daily rituals can you share from Gaia that we can practice at home?

I am so proud of Gaia and her numerous awards and the gift it gives people who stay there. My new Retreatments Botanic skin care range that has just been released, adds a little touch of Gaia to my every day. Taking time out, valuing yourself and looking after yourself are extremely important practices they are the inspiration behind the wellness programs at the ONJ Centre. I am humbled that I have the opportunity to promote good health and wellbeing to the world through the ONJ Centre and Gaia.

I wholeheartedly support Blue Illusion and their commitment to the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness & Research Centre, and have purchased one of the co-designed-by-Olivia puffer coats that benefit the Centre for my wife. Top quality and VERY stylish.

This is an amazing initiative both from Olivia and Blue Illusion as on 6th July 2017 I lost my beautiful 33 year old daughter Victoria (after an 18 week battle) to Cancer so I will be supporting this cause on Thursday 11th April 2019. Thank you for making this possible.
